Most of us rode along the East Takaka Road and were rewarded with views like this.

The climb back over the Takaka Hill has started. The lowest hairpin is down there.

And the top hairpin is up there!!

And the 3rd hairpin on the way up is off to the right.

Once we reached the summit, it was time for more "I done it!!" photos.
This time Maurice got recorded! Here he is with Mirror, Ray and David W.

Of course, most of us cheated : Rosemary carried our panniers over the hill in her van!
Thank you, Rosemary. There were some hardy riders, though. In the pic above, Mirror still has his panniers on the bike.
Warwick dun it!.

At our final dinner, in Motueka, Ted spent quite some time chatting up Miss Piggy.
You will note that Miss Piggy looks very happy.

Something happened that caused Selwyn (control your Teddy Bear) to
upset his glass of fine Cabernet Sauvignon.Photo : Maurice
Click the link to see why Selwyn spilt his wine,
and why Miss Piggy looks so happy.
Colin made a "Thank You!" speech to Annie for the great job she did
keeping us well fed and comfortably housed.

Annie was given a card, which was a smaller version of a framed print we got for her. It is shown on the left below.
The original scene, at Port Puponga, is on the right.

This was the last night we had together. Some were flying home from Nelson the next day, some were carrying
on riding across to Picton to go home by ferry and train, some (one?) rode the Rainbow, one went to
Queenstown to go to the Otago Rail Trail, and some went kayaking. We all, however, had a great time on this tour - even though there were a few days of ailments for several riders.
It was a combination of great scenery, food, accomodation, coffees and, most importantly
awesome company. There is another page of "What happened Later" photos for you to look at, should you be so inclined.
