Auckland Cycle Touring Association South Island Tour, 2006
1, 2 & 3 March, 2006
Early morning at Lake Ianthe. There were quite a few cyclists free camping here.
If you are ever in
Hokitika make sure you go to Hokitika Glass,
and see the glass blowers in action.
Which, of course, has nothing to do with this shot except that
the gallery is not far from the clock.
Most of the way up
the coast you are never very far away from
the Tasman Sea and the prevailing winds.
Our last happy hour, in Greymouth.
It's now the 3rd.
Peter & Rinny, and the two Richards, have left by bus
for Nelson. Lesley returned to Nelson from Hokitika yesterday, and Glen took a plane
from
Hoki to return to Auckland.
Tomorrow, Pat and
Lyn & Dick will be on the Trans Alpine heading back to Christchurch
to fly back to Jafa Land.
We remaining 5 went our own ways checking out Greymouths sights.
Dick found a few spare parts.

You would have to
wonder about people parking their vehicles right at the end
of the south breakwater.
And so the sun
sinks slowly in the west,
and our tour is almost ended.
But wait, there's more.
Bryan and John still have to cross Arthur's and Porters Passes.
