Auckland Cycle Touring Association South Island Tour, 2008
23 & 24 February, 2008
After the very short 20km ride from Te Anau it was time for

It was also
decision time : stay at Manapouri or move on a wee way??

The group split, with most opting to move on to somewhere up the Monowai Road.
Lunchtime for the movers-on.

The stayers were
treated to moody views across Lake Manapouri in the evening, on their way to
the pub for a delicious meal.
Next day there was
a howling nor' wester, blowing about 40km/h.
Fortunately, we were heading south east. All agreed it was the easiest
ride they had had for a long time - 50km downhill with that lovely tail wind!!
There was a little shelter at the Clifden Bridge at lunchtime.
