Cycle touring can be whatever you want it to be. Crossing the United States or riding the Great Divide or just riding across town. The idea is that you can carry enough stuff on your bike to be able to camp overnight. It’s then just a matter of how far you ride and how long it takes!
Cycle tourists usually have a good idea of where they will end up each day but if they find something interesting along the way they are flexible enough to be able to change their plans to do something that was unplanned. It is rare to end up a day with nowhere to stay. The members of ACTA are valuable resources. Many of them have done incredible journeys on their bikes and are only too happy to share their knowledge. Just ask the ACTA Secretary who has done a particular route and he will tell you who to talk to.
