Train Trip to Pukekohe – Helpful Information for ACTA Members
I took the train to Pukekohe yesterday, and the following details may be useful for ACTA members planning to travel south.
The new electric train service is now operational, providing an ideal way to reach Pukekohe. It also opens up great opportunities for rides on the quieter country roads south of Pukekohe. The train picks up considerable speed after leaving Papakura, reaching up to 100 km/h on this stretch.
Pukekohe now has a brand-new, modern railway station. To reach the street frontage from the platform, you’ll need to use two lifts:
- Lift 1: Spacious enough to accommodate multiple bikes.
- Lift 2: Smaller, with room for only one electric bike at a time.
This can be a challenge on the return journey if you’re short on time and the train is about to depart. It’s advisable to check the train schedules in advance to avoid a last-minute rush—we just managed to catch ours with a group of three.
When you arrive in Pukekohe, the meeting point is Harris Street. To get there, head west into Custom Street, which leads directly into Harris Street.
